- by Porter Hoagland, WHOI
- Community Spatial and Socioeconomic Linkages Report
- This is a report MOP funded to understand our current ability to spatially characterize and value a few key human uses. The only decent quantitative information are commercial fishing landings/value from the Division of Marine Fisheries. Data for the other uses are largely qualitative or based on a few statewide or region wide studies that do not allow us to have the resolution we would like. This document is a starting point for our more involved human use characterization/valuation that we are about to begin with another team. Nick Napoli has a geodatabase that contains all of the data/maps in this document.
- Developing a Framework for Compensatory Mitigation
- This document discusses potential commercial fishing mitigation frameworks based on research in other locations and interviews of the commercial fishing industry and related folks in MA. This document does not provide any valuation data, but our efforts to understand the value of ecosystem services and the tradeoffs associated with different scenarios may advance the mitigation discussion.
