Flow Experiment Site Database

Use this form to enter information about a site where streamflow and/or stage have been manipulated at a dam, diversion structure, or other water management facility for an ecological outcome.  Sites where flows have been manipulated multiple times only need to be entered once with this form.  A separate form - "Flow Treatments and Responses" - can be used to enter details about how flow was manipulated (the treatment) and the ecological responses that were documented.

Review the fields and compile the necessary information ahead of time.  If you submit a partially completed form, you won't be able to retrieve it and fill in the missing data.  You can enter additional information for the site if you use the exact name as listed at the top of the form.

If you are uncertain about any of the requested information, please answer as best you can and note those responses and how you answered them in the comment box at the end of the form.

Site Characteristics
Name of the site. This will be used to identify the site in the flow treatment form. Typically, this will be the name of a dam. If you are updating information for a site already in the data base, use the same name that is listed above.
Use decimal degrees (valid values: -180.000 to 180.000), Longitude can be obtained from Google Earth.
Use decimal degrees (valid values: -90.000 to 90.000). Latitude can be obtained from Google Earth
Long term (multiple year) streamflow at site without regulation by facility. This could be inflow to the reservoir, pre-dam streamflow at the site, or streamflow downstream - if there is no substantial diversions or inter-annual storage (water that is stored during one year and released the next year).

List range of water years (e.g., 1950-2001). Note any breaks (e.g., 1950-1965, 1970-2001)

Facility Details

This field is for the long term (multiple years) mean flow released from the facility to a river as would be measured at a downstream gage. Disregard if this is the same as mean unregulated streamflow.

Provide the annual costs related to conducting the flow treatments and monitoring the responses to flow treatments. Note (below in comment section) what these costs include and the currency units. If you are including the opportunity cost of using the water for the treatment, provide the fraction (or amount) of the total cost. Do not estimate costs that cannot be verified.
Information sources
Is there a repository of data from flow experiments and monitoring. Check all that apply.
Was there an explicit component to disseminate technical information as part of the flow experiment.

Identify a person who has been working at the site and may be able provide additional technical information about the flow experiment.
Indicate sources of information including web sites, published references, internal agency reports. If there is a large body of work, only list sources that provide an overview.
Provide any additional information that may be relevant to understand this site or your entries above.
