Overview     Introduction     Essential data management concepts  Resources  Results and next steps

When you complete this fourth step of the monitoring wheel, you should have a data system structure/architecture and plan that:

  • Effectively supports developing answers to program objectives and questions

  • Outlines a procedure and attributes to be used to define the characteristics of the data that will be collected and managed – a metadata plan and specification

  • Outlines relationships among different data sets, internal to the program as well as potentially linking to other external programs - data map

  • Creates data entry procedures, including key QA/QC provisions to verify and correct data

  • Explicitly anticipates key links to support data summary, analysis, reporting and archiving
