5.5 Results and next steps

Overview   Introduction   Statistical Assessment   Mechanics of Interpretation  Finding Meaning in the Data   Results and Next Steps

After you apply the advice within Step 5 (Interpret Data), you will have analyzed the data with the intention of meeting the monitoring objectives. Whether your objectives were to simply report on the current status of a salmon population, report on the time trend in that status, or if your objective was to learn more about underlying causal mechanisms affecting the current status or its time trend, if you were effective and successful then you will have helped the public and decision makers understand more about salmon. With high-quality designs and some luck, your results will lead to management actions that will improve conditions for salmon populations and the people and other animals that depend on them.

However, to help communicate your results most effectively to those who will use them, the next step, Step 6, provides some suggestions.
